As a wedding celebrant, there are few opportunities more exciting than being chosen to officiate a wedding on a popular TV show. That is why I was thrilled to be selected as the celebrant for Sophie and Jonathan on the hit show ‘Married at First Sight UK’, which aired on Channel 4. The show, which is known for its unique premise of matching couples who have never met before, has garnered a huge following and I count myself among its many fans.
The wedding ceremony took place on a beautiful, sunny day at Hylands House in Chelmsford, Essex and it was an honour to be entrusted with such a special occasion. Security and discretion were of the utmost importance, as the couple would not meet until they reached the top of the aisle. In fact, my first
meeting with them was right before the ceremony began!
As a seasoned wedding celebrant, I have conducted countless ceremonies over the years. However, being a part of ‘Married at First Sight UK’ was a unique experience. It was thrilling to be a part of such a popular show, and I knew that the pressure was on to deliver a ceremony that would live up to viewers’ expectations.
The episode aired on September 15, 2022, as part of Series 7, Episode 12. I had conducted a wedding ceremony (for Liberty and Dion) earlier in the day, and was at the wedding reception at the time of the broadcast. It was a surreal experience to know that I was on TV while celebrating another happy couple’s
big day.
The response to the episode was overwhelming. I received an outpouring of messages and phone calls from family, friends, and viewers alike. It was clear that ‘Married at First Sight UK’ has a huge following, and I was proud to have been a part of it. The show has become a cultural phenomenon, and it was an honour to contribute to its legacy.
In conclusion, being chosen as the celebrant for Sophie and Jonathan on ‘Married at First Sight UK’ was a true honour and a great experience. The response from the episode was overwhelming, and it was clear that the show has a huge following of fans who are passionate about weddings and love.
